New Year Message

Maro Margaryan was born in Shulaver village (present day Shahumyan) of Georgia, studied at the local middle school. In 1938 finished Yerevan State University (Department of Philology), later studied at the graduate school of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Armenian Department). In 1935 she published her first poem. Since 1937 Maro Margaryan was a member of Writers’ Union of Armenia, from 1967-84 worked at the Committee for Cultural Relations with the Armenian Diaspora Abroad. The theme of most of her works is love for the motherland, human relationships and motherhood, her books were published in Armenian, Russian, and also published some works by other authors translated from Russian. For her poem collection “Nvirumner” Maro Margaryan was awarded with SPA “Avetik Isahakyan” award, in 1983 received State Priz, in 1985 was awarded with “Order of Friendship of Peoples” award. Died in Yerevan.
