Elegy

Born in Yerevan. She received her secondary music education at the A. Tigranyan Music School in Yerevan. She graduated from the R. Melikyan Music College, and in 1982 from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, in the class of Khachatur Avetisyan. She was the first graduate of the folk instruments department. Since 1982 she has taught at the conservatory's folk instruments department (professor since 2004). She has also taught at a number of music schools in Yerevan. In 1974-99 she was a soloist of the Armenian Philharmonic, and in 1999-2002 of the Estrada Symphony Orchestra of Armenian Radio and Television. She has collaborated with various orchestras and has performed in concerts in many countries around the world. She is a laureate of a number of international and national competitions. She has written numerous collections and manuals for the qanun. Since 2015 she has also taught at the Kh. Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University in Yerevan. Hasmik Leyloyan was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Armenia in 2007 and of People's Artist in 2013, the gold medal of the Yerevan Mayor's Office in 2014, and the medal and first-class diploma of the Great International Encyclopedia in 2016.
