Javakhetsi Sirun Aghjik

Ashugh Havasi was born in the village of Alamaza, Georgia. At the age of three he lost his sight. He began to sing from childhood. His first teacher was Gusan Dovrani. He was also taught by a prominent Ashugh Tifili, who gave him the nickname “Havasi” meaning desire. He started his creative life in Akhalkalaki in1994. From 1946 he lived in Yerevan. He participated in a number of gusan competitions and won prizes. In 1967 he joined the Union of Writers and Composers of Armenia. In 1967 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Armenia. Ashugh Havasi died in Yerevan.
