Suren Baghdasaryan was born in Stepanakert. He was fond of sports since childhood until he had serious problems with his hand, health problems did not allow him to continue his sports career, but sport became an inseparable part of his life. In 1961 he won the sports commentator’s competition but he had to wait 10 years for the first broadcast. His love for his profession is so great that working in another field the Institute of Mathematical Machines, he starts reporting sports news daily for the multi-thousand collective. In 1970 radio commentator Levon Danielyan who had been commenting on football radio reports until then stopped working due to a serious illness. The commentator competition was announced again and Suren Baghdasaryan was recognized as the winner. On September 6th, 1971 “Ararat” hosted "Pakhtakor" of Tashkent in the regular match of the championship of the highest group of the USSR at the "Hrazdan" stadium and won the dramatic match with a score of 3-2. With this game, Suren Baghdasaryan’s activity began. Year of 1973 which is considered glorious for Armenian football, the reports of all the games of "Ararat" were exclusively broadcast by Suren Baghdasaryan on the Armenian radio. Baghdasaryan had been commenting on the reports of the 3 final matches of the USSR Cup with the participation of "Ararat" (1973: "Ararat" - "Dynamo" Kyiv, 1975: "Ararat" - "Zarya", 1976: "Ararat" - "Dynamo" Tbilisi). Thanks to him, the foundation was laid for the broadcasting of radio reports of all the away games of the championships of the highest group of the USSR with the participation of "Ararat" on the Armenian radio. Suren Baghdasaryan worked for more than 20 years in the Armenian state and then public radio and television. He had been commenting on the Olympic Games, Spartakiads of the USSR people, World and European Championships, and many international tournaments. The official first match of the Armenian national football team was broadcast on the radio and it was also commented on by Suren Baghdasaryan (07.09.1994 Brussels: Belgium - Armenia 2-0). For ten years, he commented on football reports on "Armenia", "Lime", and "12" TV stations. In 1996, he founded the "Football+" weekly newspaper and continued journalistic activities. Suren Baghdasaryan was awarded the medals of the IOC, the State Television of Armenia, the medals of the National Olympic Committee, "Trdat Arshakun" and "Hrant Shahinyan", and was awarded the title of an honored worker of physical education.
