Born in the village of Ashnak in the Talin district. Suren Petrosyan spent his childhood in the village of Ashnak, then in Gyulagarak, then in Lusaghbyur, and finally in Leninakan (now Gyumri). After finishing secondary school in Gyumri, in 1958 he moved to Yerevan and started working at the State Committee for Radio Broadcasting of Armenia, first as a clerk and then as an announcer, until 2004. Alongside his work he entered and graduated from the correspondence department of the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University. In 1964 he married. He died in Yerevan.
