In the 1960s the archive's main voices are the soloists of the radio's folk-instrument ensemble: Hovhannes Badalyan, Ofelya Hambardzumyan and Ruben Matevosyan, who joined in 1961. The ensemble was led by its founder Aram Merangulyan until 1967, when it was named after him. Radio reached the whole of Armenia by 1962, and in 1965 the station set up the recording fund that grew into its archive.
