1980s1980–1989

In the 1980s the archive still rests on the radio's two main ensembles: the Merangulyan folk-instrument ensemble, with soloists such as Ruben Matevosyan and Ofelya Hambardzumyan, and the estrada symphony orchestra, where Raisa Mkrtchyan sang. In 1988, the year of the Karabakh movement and the Spitak earthquake, the radio's emergency 'Search' service helped some 17,000 people find one another.
