1990s1990–1999
1082 recordings, 146 performers, 92 composers, 43 poets
After independence the station was reorganised as the National Radio, and the spoken word takes a larger share of the decade's recordings: literary readings and humour programmes with actors such as Shahum Ghazaryan and Mayranush Grigoryan. Music recording shrank, especially after a 1993 fire destroyed one of the radio's recording studios; Ruben Matevosyan and Hovhannes Badalyan remain the decade's most recorded singers, and in 1992 the radio founded its Sayat-Nova ashugh ensemble.
